Brazil soybean harvest at 85%, catches up to last year: Agrural
The soybean harvest in Brazil progressed by eight percentage points this week to 85%, narrowing the gap to last year, consultants Agrural said in an update Friday.
Harvest progression currently lags 2 percentage points to last year, data for the week up to April 12 showed, while this difference was still 5 percentage points the week before.
That compares to a five-year average of 84% for this time of year.
The Harvest in Rondonia was been completed this week, after work was already completed in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Sao Paulo the week before.
The harvest is nearly completed in Goais (99%), Minas (97%) and in Parana (93%), while there is still some work to be done in all other states
In Rio Grande do Sul, only half of the planted crop has been harvested so far, although it advanced 25 percentage points over the past seven days.
The harvest of the first corn crop is also underway in Brazil, with progression in the Center-south reaching 72% this week, according to Agrural, up a 12-percentage point gain on the week, but behind last year’s progress of 78%.
Work is completed in Sao Paulo, with Rio Grande do Sul (95%) and in Parana (92%) nearing completion.
Progression in Minas Gerais hit 46%, while Goias still shows a large lag, where only 25% of the area is harvested.
