Ukraine’s weekly corn export pace drops to 649k mt
Ukraine’s corn export pace was a third of the previous week as it slumped to 649,000 mt in the week ending December 17 after a record jump last week, data from the country’s agriculture ministry showed Friday.
That moved the total corn exported from July to the current date to 8.4 million mt, 12% up year-on-year.
In addition to that, 2.4 million mt of corn is still scheduled for loading during December, including 1 million mt leaving to China.
The USDA is expecting a significant pick-up in Ukraine's corn exports in the upcoming marketing year to 32.5 million mt, 36% above last year’s result for the same period.
Thus, corn exports have now accounted for 26% of the USDA forecast and Ukraine is left to export 24 millon mt to meet the expectation.
Wheat exports fell by a factor of almost five over the week to 271,000 mt, at the same time taking the total export volume since the start of the marketing year to 15.3 million mt, 26% above last year’s result for the same period.
Also, the lineup shows around 336,000 mt of wheat is awaiting loading currently.
Barley exports showed low activity since the beginning of December by lowering volumes on average by half.
The weekly volume was 61,000 mt, which pushed the total to 5.1 million mt, 36% higher versus the same period in 2020.
Despite the volumes of barley already being very limited, the lineup keeps showing volumes continuing to load – around 166,000 mt for the current week, with the bulk of the amount scheduled for China, Turkey and Spain.
