Ukrainian corn harvest progress lags behind recent years

Ukraine’s spring corn harvest has reached 65% completion as of November 3, data from the ministry of agriculture showed Friday.

Harvest progress has been slow, lagging recent years due to wet weather in major growing regions.

On its current trajectory, Ukraine’s corn harvest is on course for a crop of 22.1 million mt – 21% down on last year’s 28 million mt total. As such, a late surge will be required in order for Ukrainian producers to touch levels similar to the USDA’s forecast of 27.5 million mt, or the IGC’s 27.9 million mt.
